I think I'll share this with you now, so that you don't need to endure a life time of heart ache before you figure this one out. It's just the way the world works-- people will never fail to disappoint you. This isn't one of those, "gaaahh look at me I'm so sad" things, no, but I genuinely believe this. Everytime you have placed someone on some kind of pedestal, whether an inch or a mile tall...they will do something to destroy the pedestal below them, and potentially a little bit of the ground underneath, so that they've retreated to a status below the original one, below yourself. This is sounding so Derridas in his cyclical talk. But really. People will say the things you never wanted them to say. They wont take the hint you so hope they'll get. They will fail every test you give them. They will disappoint you. There is a cure to this madness however. Omit the pedestals. Don't fall too far in love with anyone. Don't appreciate anyone any more than yourself. That is the problem. Putting others before yourself. That is direct cause for disappointment. Now there is one thing that will never disappoint you. Disappointment. You see? It will always be there. Waiting for you. Waiting to fuck you over. Waiting for the one last glowering pedestal that one random friend still stands on. And when it senses vulnerability, it attacks, allowing the pedestal to fall. And who, but disappointment, is left to console you? Say hello to a new friend. Because people, tangible humans, will always leave when you really expected them to stay, but my buddy disappointment...no, he'll always be there.
