#6 No matter what, he always wins

So I failed at ensuring that there would be daily post here of what I've learned for the day. However, ironically enough, lesson number six is the reason that the posts have not happened. #6 No matter how hard I try or how much time you give me, I will procrastinate until the absolute final moment. It's inevitable. I've been in school for seventeen years now and I was a procrastinator from way back when, even the joy of fingerpainting came last if Barney or Caillou was on. Even those little ten word 'books' took a back seat behind nap time. I can't help it. I am predispositioned to procrastinate. I have instead learned new ways to deal with it. The secret to not crumbling under the pressure you have created for yourself while procrastinating is to keep a positive spirit. And I sincerely mean this [no joke here!] Keep telling yourself that you will finish it and that you know exactly what you're doing. Then give yourself a new deadline and ensure that you meet it. Look at what you have done and allow those little successes to keep you motivated.

I had an essay due last Tuesday. Professor decided to be kind and push the dead line back an entire week-- the whole class is joyous while I'm shitting my pants because I already have two other assignment due on this new deadline. Now, one would assume that the knowledge of three assignment due right after another would prompt me to start at least one a little bit early. No. Instead, I frantically search for my essay topics at noon on Monday and begin paper #1. I progress slowly on this one because the topic is just so easy that I'm trying to find a clever way to twist it. 9pm rolls around and there are two assignments left. The second paper develops even more slowly. I chronicled it on FB if you're interested, and after a cold shower and repeated pep talks, 6am rolls around and the concluding sentence has it's period. *score. The third assignment, here is where sisters come in handy. Take from that statement what you may.

The point of this week's lesson-- stop trying to hard not to procrastinate. All it does is stress you out. If you are a frequent procrastinator and still manage to get those assignments done, then good for you. I have never (and I mean this) ever handed in an assignment late because I could not get it done in time. The one time I handed in anything late ever was last year-- and it wasn't because I couldn't get it done or didn't have time, No I had plenty of time, but I literally had no idea that the assignment was even due until the professor asked us to hand it in. [panic? not so much, here, I've told you this story before]

So you're probably wondering...what am I so busy doing that I cannot get to my assignments?
